Megan Stallworthy

I make sketchbooks, notebooks, journals, visitors books and albums, with handmade, watercolour and pattern papers, leather, vellum and linen.  Each book is bound by hand in my studio in Somerset, using traditional bookbinding techniques and archival materials.  I like simplicity of form and design combined with tactile, natural materials, and aim to make books that are calm and subtle, activated by areas of colour, pattern or texture.  You can buy the books here in my shop, and also at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen in Bovey Tracey (I am a member), and at the Burton Art Gallery and Museum in Bideford.

I studied Design History and Bookbinding at Brighton University, and have been a bookbinder for more than 25 years.  As well as making books for sale and to commission, I repair books, and work with a team of book conservators at the Codrington Library, All Souls College, Oxford.

I have taught bookbinding to art and design students at schools, colleges and universities, including Falmouth University and the Slade School of Fine Art, and run workshops at venues such as Hauser and Wirth Somerset and Tate St Ives.
